Web Design is the process where you design and organize a way to lay out information to be displayed over the Internet. Business's these days almost always have a web site to display information about there services, prices, location and more. How ever the  look of your website is just the start of it.

In order to make a Web Site successful, you need to be able to say lots about the subject you are trying to promote. Hitting all areas in and around that particular subject. Then it has to be easy to navigate through all the information at hand. A lot of people are under the impression that having a web site is a way to guarantee publicity. Well unfortunately it does not work like this.

If you decide for example to create a website for your business which may be say a plumbing company, then the only way people will know about that your website exists would be to tell them manually the web sites address. Such as www,plumber,com . Unless visitors find you by searching plumber on a search engine such as google or Bing.

The problem is now that search engines are likely to only display what they consider the most likely 10 matches. Now if your websites content is not properly written, your web design doesn't comply by basic standard or they don't know about your website at all. Then you will not get any visitors from them. My point is there is a lot more to a successful website that what meets the eye.

A website can have a range of functions, almost capable of everything your PC or Mac is capable of. In order to give a website the capability of say user sign up and management, it needs to be able to store information entered by the visitor, this is stored in a database, this database will contain all the information on your website. This is easy to back up and is essential to do so.
